Jess + Shannon | Autumn Lane Estate | Sebago, Maine

Heart IconHow they met

Jess and Shannon met while they were both working at Babson College in Athletics. Jess recalls passing by Shannon’s desk and they would spark up small talk. Later in the year, the staff started to play “Noon Hoops” where Jess was guarding Shannon. Noon Hoops quickly turned into walks around campus and just talk about work, life, and any challenges they were facing. They instantly became best friends. As the days turned into weeks, Jess finally had the courage to ask Shannon on a date to go bowling. The night was perfect and they both knew this was something special, but being the stubborn people they both are they wouldn’t admit it right away to one another. They were hanging out almost every day and Jess remembers feeling so whole and in love. Nothing felt more right about their relationship so she decided to pop the question “will you be my girlfriend”? And, well obviously, Shannon said yes.

The Engagement

Jess and Shannon often talked about their future and how we wanted to grow old together and never leave each other’s sides. This led to Shannon’s plan to propose. They were in Maine for Fathers Day weekend with Jess’s family, and Shannon slyly got Jess out of the house so she could play a video she had created for Jess’s parents asking for her hand in marriage.

Fast forward two weeks, Shannon was planning on proposing the night of July 4th but events took a turn for the worst when a lake house nearby burned to the ground. The next night, July 5th, Shannon proposed at sunset on the beach by doing a play on one of our favorite stick-figure drawings that I drew her in a journal two years prior. She pulled out the journal and I noticed my original drawing but she told me she had drawn me a new one. As I flipped to the back there it was! A stick-figure drawing of her proposing to me on the beach. After I picked my heart up off the ground and cried my eyes out, my family came rushing down to the beach with champagne and fireworks. It was absolutely everything we could have ever wanted.

Then to really seal the deal, Jess proposed to Shannon three weeks later at sunset on the summit of Douglas Mountain in Sebago, ME. Douglas Mountain was one of the first spots Jess took Shannon when they visited Sebago together for the first time.

The Wedding Day

Jess and Shannon felt there was not a more perfect place to celebrate each other than the Autumn Lane Estate since Jess has grown up summering a few miles away since she was born. Their wedding style was romantic and rustic with natural earthy tones. They treated their wedding as a celebration of their love but also as an opportunity for their guests to appreciate the charm of Sebago Lake as much as they do.

There wasn’t a dry eye in the house while Jess and Shan exchanged wedding vows. You couldn’t help but feel their love and appreciation for one another. Despite a few unwanted rain showers, their wedding day was pure perfection.
