Maria + Jake | A Winery Wedding at Zorvino Vineyard

Their Story

Maria and Jake met in 2013 while attending their sophomore year of college. They first spoke during dinner at the cafeteria where Jake claims Maria ate off his plate. Maria denies it saying she ate a bite of food off her friend’s plate. Either way, they started talking more and officially started dating in April 2013.

After 5 years of dating, Jake decided it was time to propose to Maria. They had planned to go hike Mount Major, but rain was in the forecast, so they decided to stay local. Maria remembers complaining because she just wanted to do a quick walk before the rain, but Jake took her down a new trail. They enjoyed the view of the pond for a moment and then Jake got down on one knee and asked Maria to marry him. She recalls being speechless, but said “of course!” Later that night, they recreated their first date by going to their favorite Italian restaurant followed by the new Avengers movie.

Wedding Day

When searching for a wedding venue, Maria and Jake knew they wanted a winery or brewery with character and a lot of land. They fell in love with Zorvino’s rustic feel immediately. The theme for their wedding was “Love is a beautiful ride”. There were a lot of antiques and bicycle decor accents throughout to represent their love for mountain biking. Stunning florals covered the gazebo and waterfalled over the sweetheart table.

Maria’s bouquet was stunning with light pink and lavender tea roses, lisianthus, feverfew daisies, and a ton of different greenery. Her wedding dress had a lace bodice with a keyhole running down the front paired with a simple skirt.

Maria and Jake were married at Zorvino Vineyards on August 16, 2020. It was a cool summer day with a few rain showers–but this crew didn’t let COVID or a rain shower stop them from enjoying every minute of the day. Sadly, the week leading up to the wedding, Maria’s sister and brother in law were unable to attend due to COVID. But luckily technology allowed them to make the best of the situation and she was able to deliver her Maid of Honor speech virtually.

Maria and Jake were easy to be around from the start and you could feel their excitement immediately. You could tell from the first look, to the vows and the cake cutting that they just love to have fun and be goofy together. They also love to sing and dance, so in true 2020 fashion, they put on their masks and danced the night away!
