Shannon & Robert | Abenaqui Country Club | Rye Beach, NH

Their Story

Shannon and Rob met while attending Northeastern University. It was a cold February night in 2012 when they both braved the cold and ventured to Tavern in the Square in Allston. They met on the dance floor, where Robert won Shannon over when he revealed that he played on the very elite and exclusive club roller hockey team (They both love playing and spectating sports!). After meeting, they decided to share a cab back to campus and laughed nervously when we realized they shared the same address. It turns out Shannon lived just two floors above Rob in the historic relic that is 103 Hemenway Street.

In June 2018, Rob and Shannon were on their way to brunch. Rob asked if they could take the scenic route and stopped at a park near their home. Rob popped the question, and of course, Shannon said yes. They get to their destination and Rob had all of their friends and family waiting for them to celebrate the great news!

The Venue

Rob was raised in South Boston, where the two currently live, so they wanted to integrate where Shannon grew up in their wedding planning. Abenaqui Country Club is only a few miles from the house Shannon grew up in, plus Rob loves to golf and Shannon loves the beach, making it the perfect venue for them.

The Wedding Day

Shannon and Rob got married on September 21, 2019. They wanted their wedding day to be a giant party, and it was definitely just that from the moment they got ready. The ladies had fun taking a trolley over to the beach for portraits while the guys hung out over a few beers at their Airb&b.

Shannon wore a Stella York gown. It was a simple and sleek gown with lace continuing to the hips, a plunging V-neckline with floating strapped, and a naked illusion back and fabric-covered buttons lining the length of the train. She complimented her gown with a cathedral veil and a bouquet of blush, burgundy, and white florals.

After their first look and portraits around Rye, everyone headed back to the venue where the ceremony space was beautifully decorated. There was a birch arch covered with blush, burgundy, and white florals and rose petals lining the aisle. Shannon’s uncle was the officiant and welcomed everyone with an adorable story about Shannon. As a young girl, Shannon was the flower girl at a family wedding, and she froze up when it was her turn to walk down the aisle. Luckily, Shannon’s mom had a lollipop, so once Shannon saw that she ran down the aisle. So just in case, her uncle and Rob were prepared with lollipops at the top of the aisle.

The reception space had stunning floral arrangements suspended from the ceiling and 16” centerpieces. You could feel the energy from the moment Shannon and Rob made their entrance. This group was ready to party, and they got right to it immediately after dinner. The dance floor was packed the whole night and everyone had the best time. It was a wonderful day and we were so happy to be a part of it!
