Sarah & Koffi | Smith Barn at Brooksby Farm | Peabody, MA

Their Story

Sarah and Koffi met in 2015 while working in a residential program. They were each walking their students down the streets and crossed paths; they said hi but Sarah remembers getting shy. They became friends shortly after and fell in love quickly.

About six months into dating, Koffi was hospitalized for a heart problem. That’s when Sarah knew she wanted to spend the rest of her life with Koffi.

The Engagement

Sarah and Koffi got engaged on June 23, 2017, while in Lake Placid, NY. It was kind of a funny story– Sarah’s mom kind of ruined the surprise by accident; she sent a “congrats” present and balloon to the hotel room before Koffi actually asked Sarah. People kept saying “congrats”, and Sarah remembers being so confused the whole trip.

On the last day of their trip, just as they were packing their bags, Sarah was eating a muffin when Koffi got down on his knees to ask her for her hand in marriage. She said yes, even though her mouth was full!

The Venue

When looking for a wedding venue, Sarah and Koffi knew they wanted somewhere laid back and stress-free. As soon as they saw the Smith Barn, they knew it was the perfect place for them to host their simple, relaxed wedding!

The Wedding Day

It was a beautiful, warm September afternoon for Sarah and Koffi’s wedding. From the minute we arrived, you could tell this bridal party was excited. Sarah was eagerly anticipating to see Koffi at the first look, so that was a really sweet moment once they finally saw each other.

Sarah wore a fitted, spaghetti strap gown with a scroll lace pattern and a long train. Her dress was complete with a flannel heart sewn inside to recognize her grandfather on her wedding day.

The floral arrangements were beautiful. Sarah’s bouquet was made up of white and light purple roses. The ceremony arch was decorated with the same roses, in addition to white hydrangeas, baby breath, and purple delphinium. At the reception, the decor was simple but beautiful. The barn was completely lit up inside with floral centerpieces and decorative birdcages hanging from the beams with more florals.

It was such a nice night, that people utilized both the indoor and outdoor spaces. The guys enjoyed ending the night with cigars in the gazebo, while others sat outside with a cocktail listening to the music. Once the party got started, everyone was up on the dance floor. A great time was had by all and we were so happy to capture it.
