Krista & JB’s Elegant Boston Wedding at The Royal Sonesta

Some love stories are written with patience, resilience, and a little bit of fate—and Krista & JB’s journey is nothing short of extraordinary.

How It All Began

Krista and JB first crossed paths at Matignon High School, though they didn’t run in the same circles. Their connection came later, through mutual best friends who started dating in high school and eventually married in 2020. During Krista’s senior year of college, those same friends set them up on a double date over Christmas break.

At the time, JB was serving in the U.S. Marine Corps and was stationed in Hawaii. The two stayed in touch as friends for over a year before JB returned home in 2017. By March of that year, with JB now stationed in North Carolina with MARSOC, the two officially began dating.

A Proposal Against All Odds

In June 2021, JB was deployed to Taiwan when tragedy struck—a severe accident left him with a traumatic brain injury and in a coma for three weeks. Doctors warned that he might never live independently again. But JB’s determination was unmatched.

What Krista didn’t know was that before his deployment, JB had already designed her engagement ring. Against all odds, after six months of intense recovery, JB not only regained his strength but was able to get down on one knee. On December 26, 2021, surrounded by family and under the guise of taking Christmas photos, JB proposed. The moment was captured on video, and Krista was completely surprised—a memory they’ll treasure forever.

The Wedding Day

On August 25, 2023, Krista & JB celebrated their miracle love story with a beautiful ceremony at Saint Raphael Church, followed by an elegant reception at The Royal Sonesta in Cambridge, MA.

The Royal Sonesta was the perfect venue choice, with sweeping views of the Charles River and the Boston skyline. Krista loved that from Cambridge, you truly get the best view of the city. With family and friends gathered—many of whom had supported them through JB’s recovery—the celebration was more than a wedding. It was a testament to love, resilience, and gratitude.

Their day was filled with heartfelt moments, emotional vows, and pure joy. For Krista, the most meaningful part was simply getting the chance to marry JB after everything they had been through. For JB, it was celebrating surrounded by the people who had carried them through the hardest time of their lives.

Krista & JB’s wedding was about more than flowers, décor, or even the stunning views of Boston—it was about celebrating life, love, and second chances. After everything they have endured, being able to dance, laugh, and soak in the joy of the day with 170 of their closest friends and family was nothing short of miraculous.
