Classic Abenaqui Country Club Wedding in Rye, NH
Shannon and Rob tied the knot on September 21, 2019 at Abenaqui Country Club in Rye, NH. From a sweet ceremony moment involving lollipops to a packed dance floor at their reception, their timeless celebration was filled with love, laughter, and fun.
Their Love Story
Shannon and Rob’s love story began on January 26, 2012, when they met while attending Northeastern University. Shannon was studying Pharmacy and Rob was studying Criminal Justice, and though they first crossed paths on the dance floor at Tavern in the Square in Allston, fate had more surprises in store. After deciding to share a cab back to campus, they laughed when they realized they shared the same address—Shannon lived just two floors above Rob! Not long after, they officially started dating on March 17, 2012.
Bonded by their love of sports—Rob played roller hockey and Shannon played basketball at Northeastern—the two have built a life together in South Boston, surrounded by the tight-knit Southie community. They love spending time with family and friends, and when it came time to plan their wedding, they wanted one thing above all: for it to be the biggest party ever.
In June, Rob planned the perfect proposal at Dorchester Heights, the park near their home. On their way to brunch, he suggested taking the scenic route, and at the top of the monument he dropped to one knee. Shannon said yes, and waiting nearby were their closest family and friends who later gathered at a local bar to celebrate the surprise engagement.
The Wedding Day
On September 21, 2019, Shannon and Rob tied the knot at the beautiful Abenaqui Country Club in Rye, New Hampshire, just two miles from where Shannon grew up. The venue was the perfect choice—classic, timeless, and set against the coastal backdrop they both love.
Shannon looked stunning in a sleek gown with lace detailing through the hips, a plunging V-neckline with floating straps, a naked illusion back, and a row of fabric-covered buttons lining her elegant train. She completed her bridal look with a cathedral veil and a bouquet of blush, burgundy, and white florals.
One of the sweetest moments of the day came during their ceremony. Shannon’s uncle, who officiated, shared a childhood memory of Shannon as a flower girl. When she froze at the top of the aisle, her mom saved the day by bribing her with a lollipop. To everyone’s delight, Rob and her uncle kept tradition alive and stood at the top of the aisle prepared with lollipops—just in case!
Their ceremony was heartfelt and full of laughter, and the reception that followed was exactly what Shannon and Rob had hoped for—an unforgettable party. Surrounded by family and friends, they celebrated with joy, dancing, and endless fun, perfectly capturing the love and excitement that has been a part of their journey since that first night in Allston.
Shannon and Rob’s Abenaqui Country Club wedding was timeless, emotional, and full of personality. From their emotional vows to the packed dance floor, it was a celebration that truly reflected their love story.
